A Scar Has Its Story To Tell
The worst part in being a victim of the negligence of another is that apart from the physical agony that you suffer upon impact, and the pain and suffering coupled with it, it may leave a permanent mark that would eternally remind you of the physical suffering that you have experienced. A scar has many stories to tell, it may be a testimony of ones bravery, or a noble act, or it may also be a manifestation of another persons negligence, whichever way, it stays and remains with you until your dying days.
In physical injury cases, a scar may be a valid ground to ask a settlement that would be more than any soft tissue injury or injuries to the superficial skin. Since it leaves a lasting proof of an injury, if a negligence results to a scar then it may actually operate to provide a claim with a higher value. A scar is not merely skin deep, it pierces into the emotional state of a person, affecting even his confidence and the way he deals with people around him.
Particularly when the person injured utilizes his physical being as a means to acquire livelihood, and tarnish on his or her skin may be prejudicial both to his career and his total personality as well. It may be a ground for him to lose contracts, or agreements existing may actually be rescinded because of said injury. The worst part is that because of such scar, he or she may lose not only a source of income but his total personality and confidence as well.
An actor for example or a model invests a huge amount of his or her income in beautifying his or her skin, in an aim of crafting more employment opportunities that would provide him or her better income, yet with the negligence of another this dream might actually come to its bitter end. Although some scars may actually be healed or eradicated by means of plastic surgery, it is still dependent on the financial status of the injured individual if he or she can actually afford such taxing operation.
Thus, if the artist is still a budding entertainer, then expect that his or her career with such devastating injury would meet an early exit. His or her only recourse now is to file a claim for damages against the negligent party, which regardless of the amount would still not compensate for the feeling that was accustomed because of the other partys imprudence. Every scar has a story to tell, whats yours?
